Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. When she moved to England from Greece at the age of 16, she received a MA with Economics from Cambridge University. The famous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it at the age of 21. Her success as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she graduated. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered critical opinions on the politics. Arianna was able to attract many prominent contributors to share their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna's celebrity status started in 2003, after she became an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. Forbes placed her at 12 on its top 10 list of Most Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the HuffingtonPost in their Top 100 list in the year 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos as well as Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that formed her entire life. From her early years, she demonstrated leadership skills that remain highly respected. At the age of 16, she moved from America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a critic for a newspaper column and as a host on television. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
